Amateur athletes will compete for more than $2,500 in cash and prizes at the sixth annual Pentown Throwdown BMX and skateboard event on Saturday, Aug. 11 at the Penticton Peach Festival.
"It is a great event, whether you are a spectator or competitor. We have something planned for every member of the family," said Director Ryan Wuthe.
Competition will heat up with the amateur street and bowl skateboard events, along with the freestyle and bowl BMX competitions. All ages are welcome and HELMETS ARE MANDATORY.
There will be a charity barbecue held in conjunction with the Throwdown, from noon to 4:30 p.m. All proceeds from the barbecue, sponsored by IGA, will go to the Penticton Youth Centre.
As well, there will be a face-painting station, an opportunity to get up close and personal with the B.C. Dragoons new armoured personnel carrier and a reptile petting zoo.
The Throwdown, sponsored by Boyd Autobody, takes place at the skateboard park on Riverside Drive from noon to 6 p.m.
Registration is $20 per person and gets underway at 10 a.m.
