Lots to do on the Opening Day of Penticton Peach Festival

After a two-year hiatus the Penticton Peach Festival board of directors, volunteers and sponsors are pleased to welcome everyone back to kick off five days of free family fun!

Start your day at the RONA Kid Zone in Gyro Park at 9 a.m. (click here to see more). Back by popular demand is Kiki the Eco Elf to entertain the kids and The Reptile Guy’s Wild Education gives a hands-on education experience bringing unique animals to the public in a safe environment. You will also find bouncy castles, face-painting, a library corner, balloon animals, BOUNCE Radio live broadcast and more! The RONA Kids Zone runs in Gyro Park Wednesday, Aug. 3 to Friday Aug. 5 from 9 a.m. to noon.

At noon you can head over to Okanagan Lake Park to check out the vendors and the London Drugs Seniors Day entertainment starting with Judy Rowe and the South Okanagan Big Band. At the same time, the Jennifer Casey Memorial Peach Bin race will get underway on Main Street, just in front of Gyro Park. Teams of four will race their customized peach bins, with the winner gaining a free entry into the Peters Bros. Grand Parade on Saturday, Aug. 6. The defending champion Greyback Construction and the Skyhawks are among the teams expected to be racing. This event is sponsored by the Downtown Penticton Association. Catch the Skyhawks in Okanagan Lake Park for an autograph session at 2 p.m.

Enjoy the midway rides and games starting at 4 p.m. as Shooting Star Amusements will be set up in Rotary Park, located a short walk from Okanagan Lake Park.

A full day of entertainment will continue throughout the day into the evening in Okanagan Lake Park including Canadian Tire MegaMotocross (2:45 p.m. and 4:15 p.m.), Mason Burns Band (3:15 p.m.), Canadian Forces Skyhawks (5 p.m.) and our headliners Prism (presented by RPR Heating & Air Conditioning) at 7:30 p.m. and Honeymoon Suite (presented by Peters Bros. Paving) at 9:30 p.m.
