Nazareth: Scottish Rock Pioneers Set to Ignite the Peach Festival Stage

“We’re thrilled to welcome the legendary Nazareth and the phenomenal Phonix Dance Band to the Penticton Peach Festival. This promises to be an epic night of music and celebration, setting the tone for an unforgettable Peach Festival,” said Penticton Peach Festival President, Shawna Tinga.

Nazareth, the iconic rock band that pioneered Scottish rock internationally, will bring their timeless hits and energetic stage presence to Penticton. With a career spanning over five decades, Nazareth has become one of the world’s premier rock bands, leaving an indelible mark on the music scene.

The band’s journey began in 1970 when the original members joined forces and changed their name to Nazareth. Their breakthrough album, “Razamanaz” (1973), produced by Roger Glover of Deep Purple, featured chart-toppers like “Broken Down Angel” and “Bad Bad Boy.” Subsequent releases, including “Loud’n’Proud” and “Rampant,” solidified their global popularity.

It wasn’t until “Hair Of The Dog” and its title track that Nazareth achieved international acclaim, with the album’s iconic single, “Love Hurts,” topping charts worldwide. Nazareth has since recorded 23 studio albums, earning three platinum and eight gold albums in Canada alone. Their latest masterpiece, “Rock’n’Roll Telephone” (2014), continues to showcase the band’s enduring musical prowess.

The current lineup comprises Jimmy Murrison, the longest-serving guitarist in the band’s history, Lee Agnew, Pete Agnew (founding member), and Carl Sentance, who joined the band in 2015. Sentance’s powerful vocals seamlessly complement the band’s rich legacy.

Pete Agnew sums up their extensive touring history, stating, “If it’s got electricity, we’ve played it.”

Phonix Dance Band: Award-Winning Party Band to Kick off the Evening

Opening the stage for Nazareth is The Phonix Dance Band. This award-winning party band boasts Grammy, JUNO, and CCMA award-winning members who have shared stages with musical icons such as Quincy Jones, Village People, Bif Naked, Jo Jo Mason, and Hey Ocean.
