Splash Zone at Peters Bros. Grand Parade

Things are about to get a whole lot cooler at the Penticton Peach Festival! This year’s Peters Bros Grand Parade, taking place on Saturday, Aug. 9 from 10 a.m. to noon, will feature a brand-new Splash Zone, inviting spectators to turn up the fun and the water pressure.

Located along Lakeshore Drive between Power Street and the SS Sicamous, the Splash Zone is a designated area where parade spectators and select parade participants can engage in a good-natured water battle using their own water blasters.

“This is all about adding a new layer of fun for families and spectators,” said Shawna Tinga, President of the Penticton Peach Festival. “The Splash Zone gives kids, and kids at heart, a chance to get involved in a safe, exciting way. We ask everyone to bring their best water blaster and their best attitude, and remember to be respectful.”

Peach Festival is asking to adhere to these important Splash Zone guidelines: Only engage in water play with others who are clearly participating (i.e. holding water blasters); Please stay along the sidelines or sidewalk area, Do not spray members of marching bands, elected officials (including the mayor and council), royalty, or other dignitaries; Be kind, have fun, and help keep the experience enjoyable for all.

The Peters Bros. Grand Parade begins at Main Street and Eckhardt Avenue, moving north on Main Street, turning left on Wade Avenue, right on Winnipeg Street, and ending with a left onto Lakeshore Drive at the Rose Garden parking lot. Cross streets along the route will be barricaded, with volunteers stationed at every intersection to keep the route safe and traffic flowing properly.

Parking is strictly prohibited on the parade route. Any vehicles found parked along the route will be towed by Penticton Towing to the Community Centre parking lot at 325 Power St. (250-493-1991).

Head downtown early and enjoy the Penticton Elks Club Pancake & Sausage Breakfast. Serving from 8 a.m to 12 p.m. at 343 Ellis Street, this annual tradition welcomes everyone with a hot breakfast and warm smiles.

This lively and colourful parade lasts approximately 90 minutes, so spectators are encouraged to bring sunscreen, a hat, water, and a chair to settle in and enjoy the show.

Penticton Peach Festival is made possible by our incredible volunteers, and this year we’re still looking for more helping hands – especially for the Splash Zone. Whether you’re signing up solo, as a couple, or with your family, we’ve got a spot for you. To register, visit peachfest.com/volunteers.
