Snowbirds Peach Festival show cancelled

In the wake of the incident in Fort St. John, B.C., on Tuesday, Aug. 2, the Canadian Forces Snowbirds will not be able to take part in the Penticton Peach Festival performance on Wednesday, Aug. 3.

According to the CF Snowbirds, the 431 (Air Demonstration) Squadron CT-114 aircraft will not be flown while a Royal Canadian Air Force flight safety team investigates to determine the cause of the incident.

In their statement, the CF Snowbirds said while disappointed to not be able to perform, they wish both the Peach Festival and all the attendees the very best.

The Canadian Forces Skyhawks (presented by Peters Bros. Paving) will still perform for the opening night (Aug. 3) of Peach Fest from 5-6 p.m., landing in Okanagan Lake Park. The Skyhawks will be participating in the Peach Bin Races, which start at noon in the 100-block of Main Street (in front of City Hall) and participate in a meet-and-greet autograph session in Okanagan Lake Park at 2 p.m. on Aug. 3.
